Summary of Position
The Incident Response Team Lead is accountable for expanding USNH’s cybersecurity incident response program. The Incident response team lead will ensure the continuous improvement and development of USNH’s incident response capabilities.

Responsibilities include:
• Acting as lead incident responder for cybersecurity incidents and investigations for the University System of NH.
• Provide expert guidance on identification, analysis, response and recovery from cyber threat activity.
• Expand threat intelligence program and establishing external IR relationships.
• Ownership and development of all USNH cybersecurity use cases.
• Develop and continuously improve the USNH threat intelligence and hunting programs.
• Develop and leading cybersecurity incident response readiness exercises.
• Act as a mentor to other team members.

Other minimum qualifications
- 5+ years relevant experience doing information security work or equivalent BS degree in Computer forensics, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other related fields
- Experience applying threat and vulnerability analyses models, examples include the MITRE ATT&CK Framework, the LM Cyber Kill Chain, and the Diamond Model of Intrusion Analysis
- Advanced analysis and problem-solving skills to quickly identify causes and solutions for cyber breaches
- Experience automating threat response actions.
- Knowledge of incident response in IaaS, SaaS and PaaS, environments (Azure, AWS)
- Knowledge of red-team or purple-team threat simulation systems.
- Support 7×24 on call requirements.
- Experience coordinating responses to security incidents with all levels of leadership and technical counterparts including peers.
- Empowered and accountable to meet or exceed the established customer service standards.
- Passion for IT and eagerness to stay current with changing technology and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and perform detailed, complex analysis and data interpretation.
- Effective interpersonal skills, out-of-the-box thinking and ability to interface with all levels of staff.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in computer science, cybersecurity or related field.
- Direct experience providing customer-focused technology security incident response support services in a Higher Education environment.
- GIAC Certified Incident Handler or equivalent. Global Information Assurance Certification Forensic Analyst (GCFA)/ or Global Information Assurance Certified Forensic Examiner (GCFE) preferred not required.
- Must have a current driver’s license, a willingness to use a personal vehicle for travel, and a willingness to travel as needed to operating locations across New Hampshire.
