Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to HRL team members including support around StarRez, Kronos, Cbord, TMA, and other HRL technology systems. Provide technical support for all HRL workstations including staff, makers spaces, seminar room AV, camera systems, and other HRL technology systems
- Plan technology upgrades; provide technical expertise in determining system specifications and purchasing decisions; work with leadership to authorize expenditures and manage resources within the constraints of the Housing and Residence Life budget.
- Assign and review work for student technology employees. Orient and train new staff, and make recommendations in all areas related to supervision, including but not limited to interviewing and selection, discipline, performance appraisal, and training of personnel.
- Plan for and provide technical leadership and support for all technology in university residence halls as required; establish schedules, meetings, training requirements, and supervise work assignments.
- Coordinate the ongoing operation and maintenance of all hardware, software, network infrastructure, and related computing systems, monitor repair and installation requests to ensure that equipment remains in operation; make decisions as to the feasibility of equipment maintenance; make referrals to University Computing Services support services as needed.
- Coordinate security of rooms containing computer labs and auxiliary space, including fourteen computer labs; direct the design, maintenance and operation of a security system for equipment and software; and coordinate technology security policies and procedures with Housing and Residence Life.
- Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory records and license agreements; includes maintenance of current manuals and publications; secure license agreements, ensure strict adherence to departmental and university policies regarding copyright and software license control, research and acquire current manuals and publications via catalogs and/or the Internet.
- In collaboration with the Assistant Director, troubleshoot, support, and assist in maintaining housing systems for more than 60 staff members; provide on-going evaluation of office computing systems and equipment, develop proposals, and communicate with vendors; research, recommend and request appropriate cost-effective upgrades and computer-based solutions to assist in streamlining office functions.
- Serve as local area network (LAN) liaison for Housing and Residence Life; create and maintain accounts.
- Provide assistance to Housing and Resident Life staff members in finding solutions to problems relating to computer hardware and software applications for 65 office computers; includes management of custodial software; authorize software placement; communicate on a regular basis with staff; ensure software placement is handled promptly and appropriately; address technical problems; make referrals to University Computing Services support services as needed.
- In collaboration with the Assistant Director, compile, generate, and distribute weekly and on-demand Housing reports; create, organize, update and maintain library of standard department reports; create and maintain various error reports; assist with monitoring of error reports; provide report writing training to the Office of Housing and Residence Life staff as needed. Ensure appropriate safety and security procedures for all IT infrastructure, student records, and facility control and access.
- Manage all supplies for HRL technology centers; order from internal and external vendors; organize and plan supply distribution (delivery); ensure printers maintain sufficient inventory (paper and toner) levels during all operation hours; maintain supply expenditure reports for each lab; work with student computer techs and lab assistants to establish supply levels, toner return and recharge.
- Establish strong partnerships with other university departments regarding interfaces of housing systems with other systems such as Cbord (meal plans and security), Cash Net (accounts receivable), Banner (accounting transactions) and Certain (conference and orientation charges); including monitoring and changing relevant parameters within system
- Utilize a framework of equity and justice in all aspects of their day-to-day work. Promote equity through the (1) identification and removal of barriers, (2) cultivate an inclusive work environment, and (3) empowerment of people.
- Create and maintain documentation and training materials on hardware and software systems; conduct training sessions for end users empowering them to take ownership of their system whenever feasible.
