Job Description

Summary

The Ming Zhou Lab is seeking a Student Helper to assist the lab part-time under close supervision of PI or Senior Associate. The lab's research is in structure determination and functional characterization of membrane-embedded enzymes and transport proteins that are involved in lipid metabolism and validated drug targets for treatment of metabolic diseases and cancers.

Job Duties

  • Helps with general lab maintenance and routine procedures:
    • Buffer and media presentations.
    • Protein expression.
    • Purification.
  • Provides office administrative support.
  • Provides research administrative or technical support.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School or College Student (undergraduate or graduate).
  • No experience required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in PCR-based mutagenesis:
    • Eukaryotic protein expression in the insect cell expression system.
    • Membrane protein purification.
  • Knowledge in structure determination of membrane proteins by cryo-electron microscopy.
