Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Molecular Biology (Dr. White’s Lab) and Biochemistry at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Fellow position is to conduct research investigation into the mechanisms underlying the systemic metabolic imbalance that occurs in cancer cachexia under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. Cancer cachexia is a devastating catabolic process that limits treatment and identifying the causes would improve survival and quality of life of many cancer patients. Performs research, experiments, and laboratory techniques of a specialized nature under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator. Drafts written reports for inclusion in manuscripts and grant proposals.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Conducts research experiments to understand the mechanisms that result in cancer cachexia and target them for therapy.
Prepares written reports of the research experiments.
Prepares grant proposals based on the research conducted.
Prepares data for presentations and publications. Presents research results at laboratory and scientific meetings at the local and national level.
Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows, lower-level professionals and technicians in laboratory technicians, instrumentation, etc. to develop the skills necessary to perform the required functions.
