Job Description

Provide excellent dental hygiene care in the UAB Dentistry Wellness clinic under the supervision of attending dentists. Under general supervision of the attending dentist and according to established policies and procedures, renders routine dental hygiene care such as scaling, root planning, curettages, cavitrons, polishing, applying sealants and administering fluoride treatments. Takes, develops and mounts radiographs of patient s teeth as necessary. May perform various administrative and clerical duties in support of department operations. Responds to the unique needs of all patients ages newborn through geriatric.

(Hourly Rate: $22.90 - $29.80)



Graduate from an accredited School of Dental Hygiene required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed with a Dental Hygiene License from the Alabama Board of Dental Examiners required.

Preferred hard and soft skills:

Care will include scaling and root planing
Periodontal maintenance care
Periodontal probing
Oral hygiene instructions
Behavior modification as well as patient education on wellness
The ideal candidate must be a dental hygienist licensed by the Board of Dental Examiners of Alabama.
