Job Description

We are looking for a candidate who has a passion for providing organizational support for the establishment of a new office and a strong desire to be a collaborative member of a team.

This position reports to the Director of the Office of Community Engagement (OCE). The role requires a variety of administrative activities and tasks to be performed in support of the OCE Director. Assignments may include organizing, coordinating, and scheduling meetings, calendar management for the OCE Director, preparing travel arrangements and expense reports, preparing correspondence, purchasing supplies for OCE, filing, providing support to OCE staff as requested by the Director. May utilize various types of software to compile and generate reports, spreadsheets, timelines, correspondence, and presentations. May recommend processes to enhance workflow. Requires a broad working knowledge of departmental and laboratory policies and practice.

Position Requirements

  • Ability to provide administrative support for OCE meetings, conferences, and workshops, as required.

  • Strong organizational skills, ingenuity, creativity, and the ability to solve problems independently.

  • Skill and the ability to work on multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, and ability to interact with people at all levels both within and outside the laboratory.

  • Knowledge of event planning and management.

  • Ability to adapt to new procedures and technology.

  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and meet deadlines with accuracy and completeness.

  • Knowledge of computers and office machine operation including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to use numerous business process systems and tools.

Other: The selected individual may be required to work at Argonne in Chicago office (Hyde Park, IL) and Lemont office (Lemont, IL) as needed.
