College/Department Information
The Clinical Trials Office (CTO) serves as the initial point of contact and centralized coordinating office for all clinical research conducted within the Augusta University Health System. Our mission is to facilitate clinical research by providing quality services, solutions, innovative leadership, the promotion of collaboration, and continuous quality improvement. Our operation is based upon a comprehensive "One Stop Shop" concept for investigators and sponsors. The Clinical Trials Office provides oversight and management of clinical studies.

This incumbant will work with the principal investigators and research staff to develop a robust training module that includes study startup activities, research compliance, and external monitoring processes to ensure compliance with human subject research, improve efficiency, fiscal soundness and to grow CTO clinical research.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

External Audit Preparation: Work with principal investigators and research staff to prepare for external audits and inspections by sponsors, grantors, accrediting bodies, and regulatory authorities: Provide education on expectations and how best to prepare and organize materials to include interacting with the auditors or inspectors; Interview personnel and review records in advance to identify possible areas of concern, so that the issues can be proactively addressed; Attend all exit interviews with research monitors, report findings and assist with the development of corrective action plans and/or written response as warranted. This information will be presented to the principal investigator, the director and research staff

Internal Review Preparation/Process: Develop a plan to perform routine compliance reviews of clinical research studies for the CTO office. These reviews will be conducted at the following timepoints and/or as assigned by the Director or their designee: After enrollment of the first patient in a newly opened research study; After enrollment of the first patient for a newly hired employee; After enrollment of the first patient for a new Principal Investigator. Provide the Principal Investigator, the Director and research staff with quality improvement recommendations and/or education/training to ensure that research is conducted in compliance with institutional, federal and state regulations and keep records of this training/education after discussion with the Director/designee.

Training: Assists with the development and implementation of training materials for both internal staff and external site training. This includes developing and managing the educational lifecycle of all CTO research training materials: Ensure compliance with research protocols and institutional requirements by creating a competency checklist and train all newly hired research staff and re-training of excisting research staff. This training will be conducted in-person and by observation; Communicate and provide feedback to the clinical research manager during the staff probationary period and for ongoing performance evaluations; Creates in-person and online training videos for the CTO office; Conducts and coordinates webinars for study-specific training, new initiatives, changes in study data collection requirements, etc; Responsible for presenting at Human Research Academy, and performing ongoing education with the CTO staff.

Other: Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with at least two years of related experience OR Associate degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years' experience in an applicable field, and experience as a trainer, educator, researcher or research coordinator.

Ability to maintain confidentiality
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Grade: 14

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
