Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY

  • Drives portfolio management and project-based resource demand forecasting. 
  • Coordinates all portfolio, project management and planning to support GPD and WRDM. 
  • Provides single venue for full GPD view of portfolio across all assets. 
  • Accountable for the operational delivery of the portfolio to meet GPD targets (milestone delivery according to time, cost, speed, quality/value). 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages and optimizes the GPD portfolio. 
  • Annual portfolio budgeting, forecasting and goal setting. 
  • Portfolio valuation and associated prioritization/Tiering. 
  • Optimal project-based resource demand forecasting and management. 
  • Dynamic tradeoffs, decision making, and governance support (Monthly & Quarterly GPD Operations, Category TRIAD and Clinical Development Board Support). 
  • Owner of integration of GPD activities and delivery milestones with all partner lines (eg, Regulatory Sciences, Medicinal Sciences, DSRD, PGS). 
  • Ensures compliance with provision of portfolio and project information required to meet minimally required Pfizer Disclosed Portfolio reporting needs (10K, Annual Reports, Disclosed Portfolio). 
  • Enhances operational performance against GPD goals. 
  • Sets Category-level performance metrics for goals and aligns with the Pfizer Disclosed Portfolio reporting hierarchy of metrics. 
  • Tracks progress against goals and milestones, including performance to plan (pre-POC, Pivotal Programs and BD-acquired programs) 
  • Uses Unit-level performance analysis to recommend key areas of operational improvement. 
  • Ensures compliance by all PPM colleagues with Pfizer policies and local laws and regulations

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Scientific degree with Post Graduate training in biomedical science is desirable in one of the disciplines related to drug development or business. 
  • Deep expertise in project management, portfolio management, and drug development (both research and development). 
  • At least 10-15 years of experience in managing multiple, highly complex projects and portfolio governance. 
  • Strong technical expertise in a discipline associated with drug development. 
  • Knowledge of commercial issues that drive late-stage development. 
  • Demonstrated success in negotiating the environment of a highly matrix-based organization. 
  • Strong track record as a line manager/supervisor accustomed to setting and meeting personal and team goals and motivating and developing staff. 
  • Proven record of implementing portfolio management practices and process improvements across a global organization. 
  • Strong contributor to strategic planning with leadership teams and track record of implementation success. 
  • Demonstrated success for simplifying processes, identifying and streamlining organizational redundancies and red tape.
  • Outstanding communication skills  

OTHER DETAILS

Reports to the GPD Chief Development Officer. 

Partners with the Chief Development Officers, the Clinical Development & Operations Head to ensure an aligned Development Organization and associated Operating Principles. 

Partners with the Medicine Team Leaders in WRDM and GPD to ensure high functioning cross-functional Medicine Teams. 

Key interface with Portfolio and Decision Analysis Group and the WRDM Scientific Planning and Operations and Medical Affairs Evidence Generation PPM Head. 

Development representative to Portfolio Management Communities of Practice. 

Partners with Heads of functional lines (eg, Regulatory Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Drug Safety Research & Development [DSRD], Clinical Pharmacology and Early Clinical Development). 

Partners with Finance, Business Development, and Strategy & Innovations Groups. 

Partners with WRDM Scientific Planning & Operations to ensure alignment of POC deliverables.

PPM function is approximately 175 colleagues globally .

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $254,400.00 to $424,100.00. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Salary range does not apply to the Tampa, FL location.
