Job Description

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to fulfill a critical role in the Melanoma Brain Metastasis Research Program. This fully funded 4- to 5-year research project is focused on evaluating molecular and immune determinants of melanoma brain metastasis, and exploring novel therapeutic strategies using pioneering in vivo and in vitro experimental models. Melanomas have among the highest rates of brain metastasis compared to other cancers, and there is a significant need to understand the molecular progression of this metastasis and to develop novel treatments against it.

The appointed candidate will work in a collegial academic environment consisting of researchers, clinicians, bio-informaticians, and will gain interdisciplinary expertise in working with molecular biology techniques, mouse models of brain metastasis, animal imaging, single-cell sequencing and other high-throughput molecular analyses. MD Anderson Cancer Center provides extensive opportunities for scholarly achievements and career development.

Beyond work, the Texas Medical Center offers enriching opportunities for networking with accomplished scientists, clinicians, and other professionals in academic institutions and biotech companies.

We are seeking individuals with a PhD degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cancer biology, pharmacology, or related fields, with a strong record of doctoral research accomplishments like publications. Prior experience in working with mouse models is desired although not required, but the candidate should commit to learning and performing mouse studies. Candidate should have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage the research project to completion.

Interested applicants should send a Cover Letter specifying past research experience, skills, accomplishments, Curriculum Vitae, and contact information of three (3) referees to Dr. Vashisht Yennu Nanda ([email protected]) with the subject line “Postdoctoral Fellow – Applicant’s Name”.
