Job Description:
The Data Manager I, is housed in the Research System Department in The University of Kansas Cancer Center Clinical Trial Office (CTO) and reports to the Research Systems Director. The Data Manager I works with CTO and KU Cancer Center (KUCC) staff, to assist in identifying business and technical solutions and to translate their needs into business requirements. Will work on solutions for existing CTO Research Systems projects, new technical solutions, or process improvements. The Data Manager I must be broadly knowledgeable in the functionality of Clinical Trials Management Systems (CTMS) as well as Clinical Trials business processes. Will work closely as a liaison for the Clinical Trials Office (CTO), and the Department of Biostatistics and Data Science in the development and support of successful projects.

Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, data science or equivalent.

Work Experience: At least has two years working experience. Experience in running and building reports. Experience in Systems Administration. Experience working with IT development projects following a systems development lifecycle.

Skills: Highly motivated professional with strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Energetic self-starter capable of working independently and comfortable working with a diverse group of domain knowledge experts, managers, and executives. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively in a team environment. Excellent verbal and written communications.

Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Master's degree.

Work Experience: Past experience as a Data Analyst in health care, research and/or education. Past experience in working with clinical data. Understanding of information management, data concepts & practices. Health Care IT or clinical research experience.

Job Duties Outlined:
Build positive, congenial, and collaborative relationships with domain knowledge (“functional”) experts internally and externally to the organization

Leads stakeholders in the analysis process, interacting to elicit and document data project requirements

Assists in the prioritization, planning, communication and coordination of projects assigned.

Produces professional quality project artifacts including but not limited to business requirements documents, use cases, issue logs, test cases, reports, and other documents as needed

Leads, documents requirements, and works with technical teams to gather project requirements, and data mapping discussions to provide solutions to promote data integrity in the CTO

Runs routine and Adhoc reports to support stakeholder needs

Serves as a critical resource and liaison between subject matter experts and clinical trials experts throughout the project lifecycle

Assists in the estimates of time required to deliver project artifacts and reports progress toward delivery goals throughout project.

Identifies and communicates both risks and solutions

Participates in the testing, QA, and updating working practice guidelines and maintaining security

Assist in application support and management of defects, enhancements and change requests for systems used in the CTO.

Work on multiple concurrent priorities.

Develop a high-level understanding of key KUCC business processes, workflows and information flows.

Provides technical assistance in training, mentoring, and coaching professional and technical staff.

Performs other duties as assigned.
