Position Description:

This position is responsible for sophisticated monitoring, forecasting, and planning of budgets.  The position conducts financial reporting activities; prepares analyses that track budget-to-actual revenues and expenses; builds and maintains financial forecasting models; and mentors campus constituents on budget and financial systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engages in activities to facilitate the accurate and timely completion of budget and financial reports for assigned units, including any adjustments. This includes analyzing data and providing guidance on how to access, extract and leverage budget and financial information housed in enterprise-wide platforms.

  • Prepare, analyze, and communicate budget and financial reports for internal customers.

  • Monitor revenues and expenses to ensure a stable financial position.

  • Apply analytical techniques to help explain the impact of anticipated or implemented financial actions.

  • Develop solutions to deliver timely and accurate budget and financial information to assigned academic units.

  • Helps educate other university constituents about the budget process, budget development, budget monitoring and other financial activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree

  • Experience in finance, accounting, or business-related field

Competencies

  • Highly proficient in Excel with large data sets, as well as other Microsoft application

  • Familiarity with Power BI

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Good understanding of budget, finance, and accounting principles

  • Strong analytical skills and data analysis with the ability to provide guidance that is data driven

  • Ability to work within a team, as well as mentor and provide training to other team members

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
