Summary

The Office of the Dean of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) at Baylor College of Medicine seeks an experienced Lead, Project Management to develop and lead multiple projects within the School. This position is responsible for planning, executing, managing and monitoring key strategic initiatives, process improvements and operational efficiency of the School to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within specified timeframes. These projects are varied and may include, but are not limited to, projects that deal with new program approval, accreditation, policies and governance, research education and general education issues within the School as well as committee and workgroup management. The position will report to the Dean, GSBS and will work closely with various stakeholders in analyzing situations, researching best practices, and implementing tools, processes and policies. This position will be working closely with many levels of the organization across a wide variety of strategic initiatives/subject matter areas.

Job Duties

  • Works closely with GSBS Dean to develop and adapt project management tools and resources to facilitate new projects and process improvement efforts.
  • Leads the development of the strategic planning process as it relates to GSBS business operations. Monitor progress, make changes and communicate evolving priorities as needed.
  • Executes comprehensive project plans for the Dean’s Office, ensuring adherence to timelines and documenting progress and accomplishments. Prepares succinct project progress reports for the GSBS Dean.
  • Oversees and tracks all GSBS major projects and tasks to ensure project completion and attainment of goals; follow up on issues and concerns, including those of a sensitive or confidential nature.
  • Engages effectively with project team members, including faculty and staff, to make timely progress toward desired goals.
  • Develops evaluation strategies and processes to monitor business development goals and progress.
  • Prepares reports, presentations, meeting minutes and communication for GSBS-related initiatives and meetings.
  • Drafts, reviews and updates operations policies and procedures, recommends improvements.
  • Participates in research, benchmarking and analysis to ensure that decision making, business processes and outcomes are reinforced by robust evidence and analysis of market trends.
  • Manages uncertainty, change, conflict and sensitive issues to achieve positive outcomes with a high degree of integrity.
  • Anticipates delays and recommends plans for alternative solutions.
  • Develops and fosters relationships with relevant partners in Schools and other College support groups to enhance business development opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Six years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business/administration, health management, project management or other related discipline.
  • Six years of relevant experience in executing high level and complex projects and program implementation.
  • Excellent analytical, critical appraisal, problem solving and organizational skills including time management and ability to work at a high level with minimal direct supervision.
  • Strategic data analysis skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • High-level interpersonal, conflict resolution, communication and consultation skills.
