Responsibilities
The Bodine Lab is seeking a temporary lab technician to assist with research in cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating skeletal muscle size and function in response to disease and aging using rodent models.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing mouse colony (updating strain database, setting up breeders, and genotyping by PCR)
  • Exercise training of laboratory animals
  • Euthanizing animals and dissecting muscle tissue
  • Sectioning, immunostaining, and imaging muscle tissue
  • Participating in lab and departmental meetings


Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience. Willingness to handle laboratory animals (mice and rats).Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Highly organized and meticulous to ensure accuracy of data collection and recording. Willingness to learn new techniques and initiative to solve problems. Basic knowledge of routine technical/functional procedures. Basic computer skills to include knowledge of Internet software, order processing system, and Microsoft Office software. Must be detail oriented and work as a team player. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compute simple mathematical computations. Ability to apply common sense to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to organize and perform precise and accurate work when dealing with samples and chemicals.
