As a successful candidate, you will:

Performs highly technical work in the analysis and support of local and wide area network operating system software, hardware and applications. Performs configuration of Data Switches and Routers. Conducts performance monitoring and tuning of data network components, generates performance reports of circuits and components of network.

  • Troubleshoots network components to include circuits, routers, and switches for Cisco Cat OS and Cisco IOS for configuration and hardware errors.
  • Provides technical assistance to vendors, contractors, and service providers in identifying and solving problems.
  • Provides technical support for ITS LAN Administration and Data Security Groups.
  • Be a communication liaison between service providers and department head and ITS during network outages on service provider network .
  • Monitors and verifies proper operation of network back-up procedures for Switches, Routers, and Monitoring and Trending software like Netvoyant, HP Openview, Ciscoworks, Sniffer, WLSE etc .
  • Installs, configures and manages network switches, access points, and routers.
  • Assists in coordinating all network cabling efforts (moves, adds, and changes).
  • Open trouble tickets or new service requests with service providers for data circuits or network equipment and coordinate trouble shooting and follow up with service providers.
  • Manage and be responsible to close calls related to Data Network and its related components in Helpdesk per the department policies.
  • Provides LAN Administration with support associated with blade servers connectivity and server switch support.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to maintain certification/licensure, and/or keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Attends meetings as required, and participates on committees as directed.
  • Maintains a positive image when dealing with department personnel and other City of Hope employees.
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of spare network components.
  • Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
  • Other duties as applied.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements
  • Five years in LANs software/hardware support
  • Discern which application or utility is required to complete or correct assigned tasks
  • A minimum of three years in networked systems supports including Cisco IOS and Cisco Cat OS.
  • CCNA certification required.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $34.64 - $53.70 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
