Summary
The Department of Pediatrics - House Staff Education is currently seeking a chief resident serves as a direct report to the pediatric program director. Job duties include patient care, teaching, and administration. Those duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Direct care of patients at the Harris County Hospital District Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Clinic in Pasadena.
- Teaching - Supervision/teaching of medical students; Supervision/teaching of residents providing patient care at Texas Children's Hospital and the Harris County Hospital District hospitals and clinics.
- Scheduling and conducting teaching conferences.
- Orientation of residents to their rotations.
- Assist in evaluating and providing feedback to residents and medical students.
Administration
- Serve as the primary liaison between residents and faculty members.
- Creation and maintenance of resident yearly and daily schedules.
- Helping ensure all regulatory requirements (e.g., those of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) with respect to residents are met.
- Help address personnel issues involving residents (e.g., interpersonal conflicts, absence due to illness)
