Summary
The Aiden lab at BCM is focused on generating and using genomic and epigenetic data in novel ways to explore fundamental biological mechanisms. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic research associate to join our team. Job Duties
- Execute experimental protocols including HiC, single cell HiC, and other genomic and epigenomic assays.
- Develop novel experimental protocols relevant to the lab's priorities.
- Clearly document and communicate (oral and written) results of experiments; collects, compiles, and analyzes data; conducts literature searches.
- Assist in the preparation of laboratory reports and publications.
- Annotate and maintain collaborative protocol repositories for all lab members.
- Participate in lab maintenance activities as directed such as cleaning/maintaining equipment and work areas, orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
- May support research activities of less experienced research staff and assist with training new lab members.
- Work with model organisms.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform intact HiC experiments following established protocols and maintaining high-quality standards.
- Develop optimized HiC protocols for specific sample types.
- Perform other genomic and epigenomics experiments as directed by PI.
- Record and document experimental procedures, observations, and results accurately in laboratory notebooks or electronic databases as decided in collaboration with PI.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, to analyze and interpret data, share insights, and actively participate in group meetings and discussions.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment, including restocking supplies, cleaning equipment, and disposing of waste materials.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Basic Science or a related field. Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
- Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Biology or related field
- Basic knowledge of molecular biology techniques and laboratory procedures
- Familiarity with HiC methods
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow experimental protocols accurately
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Comfortable working independently and seeking guidance when necessary
