Job Summary

The incumbent of this position will be reporting to the Associate VP, Volunteer Services and Engagement, the Community Engagement Manager provides leadership and coordination for the university's community engagement efforts as it seeks to become more actively engaged in public programs, community health and education initiatives, coordinating volunteerism (administrators, faculty, staff and students), building community partnerships, making the campus more accessible to the community, and bringing the talent of the university to support research, learning and assessment in the community. This cross-collaborative role will serve as a bridge builder between academic and administrative units to support and facilitate community engaged programs and efforts across campus.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Implementation and Tracking: Responsible for proposing, implementing, tracking, and unifying community engagement efforts across the institution to include faculty, staff, and students. Assist with development, implementation, and evaluation of leadership, diversity, and civic engagement programs.

Reporting and Development: Manages and maintains enterprise community engagement tracking software and database. Responsible for reporting on community impact on a consistent basis and developing program recommendations based on engagement trends and patterns. Collect data on service-learning and volunteer efforts at AU to document and assess the impact of our work and inform us about campus and community needs, collaborating with Institutional Research as appropriate.

Community Partner Recruitment: Manages community partner recruitment and relationships in order to build collaborative service opportunities exclusive to Augusta University students and employees.

AU Day of Service: Leads the annual AU Day of Service event including community partner recruitment, volunteer recruitment, and event management efforts.

Planning: Organizes and plans annual institutional community engagement recognition, awareness, and celebratory events. Tracks community engaged recognition across campus and makes recommendations for the most effective ways that AU can recognize these efforts.

Student Affairs and Service Learning: Partners with Student Affairs and Service Learning programs to develop and implement student community volunteer opportunities. Collaborates with faculty, staff, and community to integrate service and social justice in co-curricular and curricular experiences.

Communications: Responsible for community engagement communications and outreach across campus to raise awareness and interest in community engagement opportunities and programs. Coordinate with the Office of Communications and Marketing for stories on student/employee service and all other media related needs.

Program Liaison: Serve as a liaison between faculty and community organizations in order to coordinate mutually beneficial academic-community partnerships. Consult with individual faculty to help identify community partners in the area of their academic interests and maintain awareness of local community initiatives with a focus on potential fit for AU academic- related activities.

Program Recommendations: Maintain and execute community engagement program recommendations derived from the Carnegie Community Engagement application project. Responsible for maintaining application requirements/information during and between application cycles.

Advisory Committee: Work with AVP to develop an AU Community Engagement Advisory Committee responsible for bringing community engagement recommendations to leadership for consideration and implementation. Represents AU on Community Engagement committees and advisory groups as appropriate.

Healthcare Related Community Partnership: Works with health sciences academic units and colleges to support health care related community partnership requests including blood drives and community health fairs.

Training and Supervision: Train and supervise student workers who assist with volunteer programs, projects, and initiatives.

Other Duties: Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field including (but not limited to) Business, Public Relations, Public Administration, NonProfit Management, Marketing Communications, or Human Resources.

Three years prior experience facilitating community-based initiatives, managing and/or coordinating community partnerships, projects, and programs.

Prior project management/event coordination experience.

Experience working with and administering relationship/engagement database software

High level of proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite of Programs.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and successfully across different areas to accomplish organizational level initiatives

Demonstrated commitment to community-engaged programs and practices

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field highly preferred.

Expert level experience in working with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Prior community engagement software management experience a plus.

Academic experience working with service-learning curriculum/programs

Shift/Salary/Benefits



Pay Grade: 16

Salary Minimum: $41,846 - Midpoint: $56,492

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
