Position Description:

The Event and Conference Services team in the Department of Delphi Center for Teaching and Learning at the University of Louisville is seeking an Intermittent Temporary Event Setup Assistant to provide operational support to the Events and Catering Coordinator by assisting with room setups. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete room setups including moving/arranging tables and chairs and setting easels, flipcharts, power cords, etc.

  • Transport trash to dumpster, wipe tables, vacuum and sweep floors, and complete other cleaning duties to ensure rooms are event-ready.

  • Immediately notify other team members of questions or problems and assist to resolve them accordingly.

  • Greet clients, event attendees, and patrons in passing and answer general directional questions, i.e., restroom, elevator, stairs, and room locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule based on business needs and event volume.
  • Professional, reliable, and courteous, with a positive attitude.
  • Able to read and understand room setup directives and drawings and knowing when to ask questions to ensure accuracy.
  • Able to lift and move loads of up to 40lbs, including items such as signage, tables, chairs, and other furniture.

This is an intermittent, event-based position with a varied weekly schedule, dependent upon event scheduling and business needs.  The total hours worked weekly could be as few as zero to five or as many as 20 or so, with the average being 10 to 15.  The work hours are typically within the hours of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with occasional hours before or after those times.  This position will remain filled as needed based on business needs and event volume.  The work location is at the Shelby Campus.  The targeted hourly wage is $15.00hr.
