Position Description:

The Department of Special Education, Early Childhood, and Prevention Science (SECP) invites applications for Part-Time Lecturer (PTL) teaching positions in the following areas: Special Education Severe Disabilities Behavior Disorders Autism Spectrum Disorders Applied Behavior Analysis Special Education Assessment Early Childhood Special Education We offer a wide range of modalities beyond traditional settings, including blended online formats.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Master’s required for undergraduate courses. Master’s or earned doctorate required for graduate courses. Prior B-12 teaching experience required.

*Highest graduate degree must be in the field of study or a closely related field with clear justifications on qualifications.

Department Mission:

The Department of Special Education, Early Childhood, and Prevention Science (SECP) in the UofL College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) is committed to improving the lives of children and youth with disabilities by preparing teachers at both the initial certification and advanced degree levels. Special education teachers are prepared to work in schools and agencies serving persons with a diverse range of disabilities, age 0 – 21.

Overview of the University

The University of Louisville is a state supported research university located in Kentucky’s largest metropolitan area. It was a municipally supported public institution for many decades prior to joining the university system in 1970. The university has three campuses. The 287-acre Belknap Campus is three miles from downtown and houses 7 of the university’s 12 colleges and schools. The Health Sciences Center is situated in downtown Louisville’s medical complex and houses the university’s health related programs and the University of Louisville Hospital. The 243-acre Shelbyhurst Campus is located in eastern Jefferson County.

Instructors are expected to attend adjunct orientation, submit course syllabus, order textbooks or other reading materials, provide developmental meaningful feedback, present engaging learning experiences, respond to students in a timely manner, communicate regularly with designated academic program director, maintain collegial and respectful relations with members of the UofL community and external stakeholders, and submit course data (e.g., Hallmark Assessment Tasks, midterm progress reports) and final grades within university deadlines, and comply with other request as a part-time lecturer such as completing an attestation disclosure form.
