Position Description:

Applications are invited for a full-time, 12-month, term-track Assistant Professor position within the Program of Audiology in the University of Louisville School of Medicine. This is a full-time position beginning January 1, 2025, with an earlier or later start date negotiable. Compensation is commensurate with background and experience and includes a competitive benefit package.

Position Responsibilities:

UofL Academic program (50% effort): teach coursework each semester. Courses available to be taught are flexible based on experience and interests of the individual. UofL Health clinical service provision and graduate clinician supervision (50% effort). The candidate will also be expected to participate in faculty meetings, admissions, and other teaching-related program service responsibilities.

Examples of teaching-related service include helping with student clinical placements, administering comprehensive exams, and mentoring student capstone projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree in Audiology (PhD or AuD with experience in an academic setting preferred, ABD considered pending completion of degree requirements), or a related field, by their start date.

  • The Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A)

  • Eligibility for state licensure in Kentucky.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with successful university teaching.

  • Evaluation of hearing/balance and provide treatment/intervention for hearing and balance disorders.

  • Interprofessional work experience in a medical setting.

  • Graduate clinician supervision experience Teaching and/or clinical experience/expertise in genetics, amplification, and practice management. However, all areas of teaching/clinical experience will be considered.

Program Information

The Division of Communicative Disorders includes the programs in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. The Audiology program at the University of Louisville developed and implemented one of the first Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree programs in the country. The program is located in the heart of the University of Louisville Health Sciences Campus and provides an exciting educational experience in a dynamic medical environment. Approximately 40 graduate students are currently enrolled in the Au.D. program. The Program has six full-time academic faculty (including this position) and works with many primary full- and part-time clinicians, operating several clinical sites in the Medical Center complex in downtown and suburban Louisville, KY.
