Position Description:

The Department of Counseling & Human Development invites applications for a clinical faculty position in Counselor Education MEd., Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program.  We welcome applicants with a wide array of clinical counseling experiences, who can serve as a core faculty member in our CACREP accredited program.

We seek a colleague who will teach, advise, and supervise students in the CMHC master’s program, as well as other programs within the department. There are also opportunities to teach at the undergraduate level. We welcome applicants who can effectively supervise students who offer services to diverse client populations. The faculty work closely with students and each other in a collaborative and collegial program environment. The CMHC program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Counseling and Other Related Programs (CACREP).


Responsibilities

  • Teach 8 graduate-level courses per year (typically 4 per semester)

  • Serve on department, school, and/or university committees

  • Advise and mentor graduate students

  • Participate and leader in the profession

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned doctoral degree in a counselor education program, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, or a related doctoral degree with prior experience as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013; ABD applicants may be considered;

  • Experiences working with diverse populations and evidence of a commitment to social justice and equity frameworks;

  • The ability to teach core clinical mental health courses;

  • Licensed or license-eligible as a professional clinical counselor in the Commonwealth of Kentucky (If not licensed the successful applicant will be expected to become licensed within the first year);

  • The ability to supervise students rendering counseling services in various clinical settings (e.g., schools, community-based clinic).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical counseling and clinical coordinating experiences that align or overlap with the wide array of clinical interests already present in the department;
  • Active membership and engagement with professional organizations (e.g., American Counselor Association (ACA); American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) associated with the field.
  • Interest in program leadership (e.g., program coordination, facilitating program meetings, leading strategic initiatives, recruiting)

The Department of Counseling and Human Development includes doctoral programs in College Student Personnel, Counselor Education and Supervision, Counseling Psychology, and Educational Psychology, Measurement and Evaluation. Additionally, there are master’s programs in Art Therapy, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, College Student Personnel, and Counseling Psychology. There are multiple opportunities to work across disciplines within the college and across campus.

Salary: Competitive, based upon qualifications and experience

Appointment: 10-month with option of summer teaching

Beginning Date: Preferred start date is August 1, 2024 but may be negotiated.
