TGen, the Translational Genomics Research Institute, a part of City of Hope is located in Phoenix, AZ. We are an Arizona-based, nonprofit medical research institute dedicated to conducting groundbreaking research with life-changing results. We work to unravel the genetic components of common and complex diseases, including cancer, neurological disorders, infectious disease, and rare childhood disorders. By identifying treatment options in this manner, we believe medicine becomes more rational, more precise and, well, more personal.


The Altin laboratory uses transcriptomics, single cell analysis and highly-multiplexed peptide assays to generate system-level insights into human adaptive immunity. We have ongoing projects that focus on immunity to viruses, cancer, tuberculosis, Valley fever and alloantigens.


We are looking for a talented, passionate, and highly motivated Research Associate to join our team in performing the wet lab activities of our group.


Position Summary

The Research Associate will carry out research in a biosafety level two (BSL2) molecular

biology laboratory. Responsibilities include:

  • Design and execute experiments, analyze and interpret experimental results, develop conclusions, and devise solutions to problems utilizing detailed knowledge of research laboratory procedures and practices and under the direction of the scientist in charge.
  • Compile experimental results into graphs and tables
  • Research and plan follow-up experiments
  • Keep detailed logs of the experiments and report scientific findings
  • Maintain and clean equipment and lab environment
  • Maintain equipment, and research supplies with guidance from faculty members
  • Communicate results and progress in weekly laboratory meeting and one-on-one meetings
  • Mentor interns, new and junior employees; assist in lab safety and equipment training and protocols
  • Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and progress reports when needed
  • Mentor students, instruct new and fellow employees on new technologies
  • Participate in TGen wide meetings, trainings and activities
