Position Description:

The Apprenticeship Learning Manager oversees the learning and development of a team of corporate-engaged apprentices. The Apprenticeship Learning Manager will collect data elements to aid in evaluation efforts. This individual will (1) make records available to the U of L MAPS staff on participants, (2) provide access to program operating personnel, participants, and any other documents pertaining to program operation and registration with the U. S. Department of Labor (US DOL) through the Kentucky Office of Employer and Apprenticeship Services (KY OEAS), (3) follow on-the-job evaluation procedures as specified by the U of L MAPS team. The Apprenticeship Learning Manager will assist with all aspects of documentation completion and submission in collaboration with the U of L MAPS Director of Professional Development & Community Engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

DATA MANAGEMENT (40%)

  • Edit and review apprentice registration paperwork (US DOL ETA Form 671) to be submitted to the U of L MAPS Program Director of Professional Development & Community Engagement

  • Submit new apprentice/learner data monthly to the U of L Director of Professional Development & Community Engagement

  • Gather, organize, and disseminate individual apprentice/learner on-the-job training and related instruction progress to U of L MAPS team on a quarterly basis

  • Track progress of apprentice learning and development modules and performance

APPRENTICE/LEARNER COACH (35%)

  • Ensure that all apprentice/learners are properly assigned a supervising preceptor

  • Ensure that all apprentice/learners are assigned a mentor

  • Review on-the-job training progress with apprentice/learners

  • Review related instruction progress with apprentice learners

  • Assist apprentice/learners with employee assistance program (EAP) access and navigation when needed

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT (20%)

  • Assess which of their work-based learning programs may be eligible to be registered with the US DOL as an apprenticeship

  • Edit and review initial apprenticeship program registration documents (Appendix D, RA Standards Occupation Form, and Program Registration Form) to be submitted to the U of L MAPS Director of Professional Development & Community Engagement

  • Ensure that all programs registered with the US DOL remain in alignment with the 5 hallmarks of a registered apprenticeship program in accordance with the US DOL and KY OEAS

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED (5%)

  • Analytical skills – Apprenticeship Learning Manager must analyze data from different perspectives, so they need to have an analytical approach to tasks

  • Organization – there are many aspects to working as an Apprenticeship Learning Manager, from gathering data to writing reports and working in the organization to seeing how policies would affect the organizations workforce, so great organization and attention to detail is important

  • Communication skills – from report writing to presenting findings, the Apprenticeship Learning Manager needs to be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

  • Teamwork – the Apprenticeship Learning Manager will work as part of a cross-institutional team on program development, so great teamwork skills are a must for success in this position

  • Interpersonal skills – the Apprenticeship Learning Manager works with people from all different walks of life, so it’s important that they’re able to remain professional and polite at all times

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
