Position Description:

This position will independently collaborate with physicians and other researchers in designing and implementing studies, analyzing data and publishing results from research projects. This position assumes primary responsibility for writing statistical design, methods and analysis for research proposals. Faculty rank is contingent upon qualifications and experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility for writing statistical design, methods and analysis for research proposals. May apply for extramural grants and/or contracts as the principal investigator.  

  • Will assume leadership role on committees, working groups and research project teams.

  • Will design statistical analyses and report generation procedures for specific research studies. 

  • Will develop the statistical design and planned analyses for research grant proposals and take primary responsibility for writing statistical design, including sample size and statistical considerations in grant proposals for research faculty.

  • Will prepare scientific manuscripts and abstracts including primary authorship on research papers. 

  • May present at professional and scientific meetings.

  • May participate in teaching activities in biostatistics and statistical computing topics within the SPHIS educational programs.

  • Will supervise the work of other researchers; Maintain and evaluate statistical software. 

Minimum Requirements

  • MA or MS in advanced mathematics, statistics, or related field.

  • 6-8 years or more of experience in an environment where one deals with various academic disciplines and quantitative research projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or other advance degree (especially for being the statistician on NIH and other federally funded grants).

  • 10 or more years of experience.
