Research Associate I

A Research Associate I position is available in the laboratory of Dr. John Mullinax, who holds dual appointments in the Sarcoma Department and Immunology Department.  We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and team-oriented individual interested in translational immunotherapy.   The lab focuses on understanding the function of T-cells within the tumor microenvironment of soft tissue sarcoma.   Strategies to leverage anti-tumor T-cell function are of particular interest for translational potential as we seek to optimize adoptive cell therapy for patients with advanced sarcoma.   

 

Position Highlights:

  • The Research Associate I assumes the responsibility of performing basic, biological, research within the specified research program. 

 

Ideal Candidate: 

  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in basic immunology techniques, including flow cytometry, T cell culture, and ELISA.
  • Is experienced in culturing mammalian cell lines and primary mammalian cells.
  • Has experience processing human samples (i.e. blood and tumor tissue)

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct general laboratory techniques
  • Responsible for performing a variety of standard laboratory experiments as well as assisting in the development and testing of new laboratory procedures under appropriate supervision.
  • The employee will assist the PI and other lab members by performing research and experimentation following established protocols.
  • The employee will also be required to maintain detailed records, follow established protocols, and perform basic data analysis for presentation. 
  • Takes inventory and helps with ordering stock laboratory supplies under appropriate supervision.

 

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required
    • Field of study: A biological, basic, behavioral, social science or public health research.
  • Hands-on research experience is strongly preferred
