The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University, we provide dental education to the next generation of professionals by offering hands-on education through innovative research, patient care, and service. Join other dental providers to improve the oral health of Georgia and beyond. The DCG was founded to provide the people of Georgia with quality dental care by educating students in dentistry. As a patient, you have the option to receive treatment in one of our three different practice models consisting of student clinics, resident care, or in the faculty practice. All dental treatments can be completed by the specialists in our facility. We also serve patients in more than 20 clinics across Georgia.
Job Summary
This position will assist with the coordination and administrative efforts as directed by the Senior Patient Care Coordinator (Patient services), Including Emergency Dental Services. The job involves critical thinking and quality control measures by reviewing proposed treatment plans, demographic information, insurance eligibility, internal and external referral requests for accuracy and compliance with DCG policies. Communicates with various patients, students, staff and faculty by telephone, computer and personally to provide information, explain and resolve minor problems for pre-doctoral student program. Responsible for assisting in monitoring students' use of the appointment system and taking appropriate actions due to violations when necessary. Duties include inputting and updating students' rotation data; maintaining referral system protocol and generating student reports and patient letters as needed. Position is also responsible for office supply inventory and the ordering of necessary supplies. Greets department customers and assist when required.
Responsibilities
Duties included, but are not limited to:
SCHEDULING/REVIEWING APPOINTMENTS: Responsible for entering appointments for specific students; reviewing existing appointments for compliance and scheduling student progress reviews for 3 Patient Care Coordinators (PCCs). Individual will keep the Senior PCC abreast of any incidents of students' patient management and/or appointment use violation.
Responsible for administrative tasks utilizing unique organizational software to complete various administrative tasks to include Inactivation, no contact letters, reassignments, and various informative correspondence for 80-100 dental students. Assist students with the appointment scheduling process. Will also adjust patient appointments when directed to do so.
Review pre-doctoral students' patients' charts for appropriate contact notes and continuation of treatment as a quality control measure and also serve as a second set of eyes for the Patient Care Coordinators during records audits or completing administrative actions.
COMMUNICATION: Answer incoming calls in a courteous and professional manner; Answer any questions or inquiries regarding student assignments, requests for appointments, or redirecting calls to the appropriate party. Notify assigned PCC regarding actions taken if assistance is required.
Collaborates with the organization's business office staff in regards to patient financial issues, as well as other departments when necessary.
ORIENTATION: Conduct Orientation with new Pre-doctoral student patients by explaining the time and financial commitment requirements as well as any school (DCG) operation policies. Collect patient data for registration and enter any clinical and office codes as determined by screening faculty or PCCs.
CLINICAL REFERRAL: Manages the internal and external clinical referral protocol by verifying that all information and delivery processes are correct and routed to the appropriate student or clinic.
OFFICE SUPPLIES: Manage office supply inventory and order necessary supplies.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization with a minimum of three years of progressively responsible office support experience.
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field may be substituted for experience.

Salary: Minimum $16.54/hour
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
