Assumes daily organizational responsibility for quality improvement and patient safety at COH ATL. This role ensures that quality standards, patient safety, Joint Commission requirements, and necessary certifications are maintained within the hospital environment. This position will be responsible for conducting of quality data abstraction and audits including identification of cases, data entry and submission, data verification and preparation of reports. Data/reports functions include CMS Core Measures, National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators, HCAHPS, ORYX and other required quality data. Assist in dissemination of clinical staff to improve the quality of care based on the dissemination of the results. This role is essential for fostering a culture of safety and excellence within the hospital.

The successful candidate:

  • Quality and Safety Coordination:Oversee quality improvement and patient safety activities, ensuring compliance with Joint Commission requirements and certifications.

  • Safety Management:Manage programs to maintain a hazard-free environment, reducing the risk of injury to patients, visitors, and employees.

  • Risk Prevention:Design and implement programs aimed at preventing and mitigating risk and safety events.

  • Data Management:Handle, analyze, and manage confidential and sensitive administrative, personnel, and medical staff data.

  • Incident Investigation:Investigate errors and plan resolutions for all safety-related incidents, including those involving visitors, patients, and threats to hospital buildings and equipment.

  • Protocol Coordination:Coordinate patient safety protocols and educate staff on new procedures, often collaborating with Clinical Departments, Infection Control, Medical Staff/Leadership, and Occupational Health.

  • HPI Strategy Development:Develop and implement HPI strategies in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer and other institutional authorities.

  • Team Participation:Serve as a member of the We ARE Safe team, inspiring and guiding safe patient care among all employees.

  • Educational Program Development:Participate in the development of educational programs across various media and assist in onboarding new nurses and PCTs with respect to the We ARE Safe program and National Patient Safety Goals.

  • Support Excellence:Support enterprise-wide initiatives, activities of the leadership team, departments, clinics, physicians, and administration.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Current Georgia State Nurse License required

  • BSN required or enrolled within 6 months of hire and BSN completed within three years from hire date

  • 3-5 years healthcare experience

  • Experience in Quality Improvement preferred

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $31.89 - $52.55 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
