A Staff Scientist opportunity is available in the lab of Dr. Xiwei Wu. You will apply genomic data analysis techniques to support various user projects at City of Hope. The team is particularly interested in a candidate with advanced data analysis skills and innovative thinking. The job entails working with clinicians and experimentalists and therefore the candidate should have strong communication skills.
· The Staff Scientist must possess Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, computational biology or similar discipline. Master’s degree with more than 5+ years of experience can also be considered
· Extensive knowledge of statistical analysis methods and models, such as machine learning and deep learning models
· 3+ year training or experience with genomic data analysis and data mining
· Proficient with at least one programming languages, such as R/Perl/Python/JAVA/C++ with R or Python preferred
· Familiar with open source and commercial software tools for genomic data analysis, such as BWA, STAR, Seurat, CellChat, IGV, VARSCAN, GATK, ANNOVAR, IPA, etc.
· Knowledge of molecular biology preferred
· Experience with statistical, spreadsheet, graphics and word-processing software packages.
· Be able to attend in person meetings

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $38.67 - $123.37 / hour
The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
