Established in 2017, the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services was established through a unique collaboration between Augusta University Health System and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice with the goal of delivering high-quality health services to the state of Georgia's justice-involved youth in 25 facilities.

Our mission in the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services is to transform young lives by providing evidence-based rehabilitative treatment services and supervision, strengthening the well-being of youth and families, and fostering safe communities.
Each youth will receive appropriate, individualized care to improve their health knowledge and their potential for wellness.
Responsibilities
Duties to include but are not limited to: Provides direct treatment services to youth as needed using medical modalities in accordance with the youth's treatment.
Conduct and document diagnostic evaluations -
Review background information available in JTS and the youth's health record.
Interview youth to obtain medical information, evaluate status/current functioning, assess risk factors, and assess the need for medical health services.
Provide 24-hour on-call supervision and consultation as needed to medical health staff and administrative staff.
Collects and analyzes data as needed to assess the delivery of health services and uses this information to develop plans for improving services.
Provide clinical treatment services to youth -
Documents all services in a timely manner in accordance with DJJ policy and applicable professional standards.
Required Qualifications
• Doctorate degree in clinical or family medicine (AMA) accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice medicine.
• Security Clearance by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
