What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a General Technologist who will act as a R&D/technical resource supporting all aspects of PPVS incoming material processing, inspection, material problem solving, and acceptance activities. You will be the primary technologist supporting one or more commodity engineering areas in managing inspection activities, assisting in identifying engineering solutions for material quality concerns to ensure parts are to pedigree standards, overseeing and supporting other technologist training and mentoring and daily support for non-standard work.
On any given day you may be asked to:
- Work with assigned engineering commodity groups to assist in problem solving material and part concerns.
- Utilize different platforms such as Oracle, PRIME, EIMS, to research material/inventory problems.
- Be knowledgeable on applicable standards for assigned commodity group such as GD&T, ASTM, IPC Standards.
- Work with external vendors to support PPVS3 related activities
- Manage the execution of a multitude of quality inspections
- Review inspection data
- Support such areas as testing and engineering data collection.
- Analyze results and implements procedures for problems based upon assigned commodity areas.
- Be knowledgeable on inspection and test specifications and procedures.
- Prepare reports and recommend solutions to technical problems as required.
- Work closely with engineering and logistic teams to solve issues, provide recommendations to engineers for inspection criteria, and improve processes using a lean approach.
- Perform safety walk-throughs, monitoring of materials to include maximum allowable quantities (MAQs) and limited life.
Due to the nature of work, successful candidate must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$70,200 - $135,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Requires a high school diploma plus 5 or more years of directly related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience conducting engineering/quality inspection activities.
- Active DOE Q-level (or DOD equivalent) security clearance.

- Bachelors degree in STEM discipline

About Our Team:
The Purchased Product Value Stream 3 (PPVS3), Org. 07561-1, oversees industrial engineering, bonded stores, and materials operations that support the Neutron Generator (NG) Enterprise and other NW production partners. PPVS3 works in a high-consequence operational envelope encompassing classified materials, precious metals, closed areas, chemicals, explosives, and radioactive materials. The organization is responsible for assuring the integrity and traceability of weapons material though the logistics supply chain which includes receiving, incoming acceptance, warehousing, inventory management, material movement, and shipping. PPVS3 is also responsible for the design, development, testing, and delivery of Department of Transportation (DOT) compliant packaging solutions and operations engineering as well as the planning for the build of packaging kits and NG disassembly activities. The organization also supervises the planning, coordination and execution of outbound customer shipments. Finally, the PPVS3 Industrial Engineering team provides visibility and insight for our production partners by leveraging data-driven modeling and analysis solutions to increase operational efficiency, effectiveness, and customer confidence.
