Position Description:

The University of Louisville Chemical Engineering department is seeking a Temporary Curriculum Development Specialist IV with a robust background in visual design, architecture, and user experience to enhance our educational materials on civil and construction topics. The ideal candidate will be creating visually engaging content that simplifies complex concepts and improves the learning experience for students. This role combines expertise in educational content development with a keen understanding of user-centered design principles.

Key Responsibilities:

Material Enhancement:

• Analyze and optimize educational materials focused on civil and construction topics to improve clarity and engagement.

• Utilize architectural knowledge to create visually compelling diagrams, models, and illustrations that make complex concepts more accessible.

Video and Presentation Design:

• Edit and enhance lecture videos to increase engagement and comprehension, incorporating visual elements that support effective learning.

• Develop PowerPoint presentations that are visually cohesive and adhere to design guidelines, ensuring content is intuitive and meets Delphi certification standards.

Visual Support for Grant Proposals:

• Provide visual design input for grant proposals, including the creation of 2D and 3D models that clearly convey project concepts and objectives.

• Collaborate with research teams to ensure visuals effectively support the proposal’s narrative and impact.

User Experience Focus:

• Apply user-centered design principles to all educational materials, ensuring that content is not only visually appealing but also easy to understand and interact with.

• Research and implement best practices for visual communication to enhance the learning experience and accessibility of materials.

Collaboration and Feedback:

• Work closely with educators, researchers, and other stakeholders to align materials with educational objectives and user needs.

• Gather feedback and iterate on designs to continuously improve the effectiveness of educational resources.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating experience in visual design, educational material creation, and architectural visualization.
• Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects) and PowerPoint.
• Ability to apply user-centered design principles to create intuitive and engaging content.
• Experience with 2D and 3D modeling, particularly in the context of civil and construction topics, is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
