What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking an Electronic Security Systems Technologist to perform a variety of duties in support of technical electronic activities associated with various security systems and their components.
On any given day, you may:
- Conduct electrical performance testing and high-security inspections.
- Document findings and results from inspections and tests.
- Troubleshoot and repair a wide range of physical security equipment.
- Address issues with network software and hardware components.
- Maintain facilities communications infrastructure.
- Undertake special assignments related to high-level security systems design and installation.
- Focus on security programmatic equipment and systems.
- Travel within the site and perform maintenance, repair, testing and installation of hardware components.
- Team with all members of the organization ensuring the system is operational and assets are always protected.
Due to the nature of the job, the selected candidate must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$71,800 - $138,200
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- High School diploma plus five (5) or more years' of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Experience and/ or knowledge in one or more of the following:
- Intrusion Detection and Access Control System platforms.
- Video surveillance systems to include software and hardware.
- IP and network equipment installation, service, and troubleshooting.
- Conducting security system programming.
- Reading, notating, and completing markups on low voltage /communication schematics and diagrams.
- Wiring and configuring low voltage systems.
- RF Communication Devices.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with team members and independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven capability to organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion on multiple tasks.
- Ability to learn performance testing that drives system modifications to meet DOE/NNSA and physical protection system requirements.
- Knowledge and experience with electronic security systems design, installation, testing, repair, and maintenance.
- Understanding the application, distribution, and potential variances and hazards of electrical currents within electronic security systems.
- Ability to learn and implement blueprints, drawings, layouts, and other related design specifications related to electronic security systems and network.
- Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting electronic security systems and equipment.
- Knowledge and skills utilizing diagnostic tools and the ability to conduct appropriate troubleshooting processes and conduct appropriate corrective actions and upgrades.
- Capability to comprehend and successfully complete training certifications for security system applications and the use of diverse software packages.
- Proficiency in writing, understanding, and managing security-related resources and materials.
- Ability to model behaviors that reflect Sandia's core values.
About Our Team:
California Site Security Systems is comprised of the Physical Security and Technical Security teams. Physical Security is responsible for security design attributes for construction, security locks and hardware, VTR testing and approvals, security perimeters, barriers, gates, turnstiles, and signage throughout the site. Technical Security designs, installs, tests and repairs automated access controls, security alarms, and related hardware. We are a team of security professionals who deliver integrated technical systems of security solutions across the site to protect information, personnel, and national security assets.

Security Clearance:
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
