Summary
The Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas is seeking a part time Speech-Language Pathologist. The ideal candidate should have experience in the evaluation and treatment of upper airway and swallowing disorders. Ability to independently perform modified barium swallow studies and FEES is preferred. The successful candidate will work within a growing multidisciplinary team of laryngologists, head and neck surgeons, and speech pathologists. Additional opportunities available with this position include participation in weekly tumor board, education and training of students and residents, community outreach, and participation in multidisciplinary research.
This position will be located at Ben Taub General Hospital.
The ideal candidate must have a master's degree and must be eligible for or hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology and licensure from the state of Texas.
Job Duties
- Evaluates and treats inpatient and outpatient adult patients with communication disorders and/or swallowing disorders.
- Schedules appointments, discusses patient progress and/or status with physicians and other professionals.
- Provides patient/family education.
- Monitors patient needs.
- Documents daily treatment and evaluation results.
- May supervise student externs.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master'sdegree in Speech Language Pathology.
- One year of relevant experience.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and Texas State Licensure as a Speech Pathologist from the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR).
