Reporting to the Director of HR Compliance and Professional Conduct, this dynamic role offers the opportunity to support the HMS and Harvard-wide communities, implement impactful initiatives, and ensure adherence to crucial policies related to Title IX, Non- Discrimination, and Anti-Bullying.If you are passionate about creating a safe and inclusive environment, excel in interpersonal communication, possess empathy, and keenly understand diverse perspectives, this role is for you. Key Responsibilities:
Compliance Leadership:
- Collaborate with Title IX Resource Coordinators and the University Office for Gender Equity (OGE) to ensure compliance with Title IX, Sexual Harassment, and Other Sexual Misconduct regulations.
- Stay current on state and federal laws and act as a trusted resource for the community.
Student Support:
- Serve as a Local Designated Resource (LDR) and Title IX Resource Coordinator for students, offering guidance on Title IX, Non-Discrimination and Anti-Bullying policies.
- Explain available resources, support options, and procedures to all parties involved.
- Embodies approachability and demonstrates sensitivity and inclusive practices in working with students and individuals of all backgrounds and identities.
- May support other Harvard community members.
Support and Safety:
- Implement supportive measures for those affected by misconduct, assess community safety concerns, and take prompt, effective action.
- Work closely with the HMS Program for Medical Education (PME), Office for Graduate Education and other academic partners to address concerns involving students.
Collaboration and Confidentiality:
- Work with key university offices, including Office for Gender Equity (OGE), Office of the General Counsel (OGC), Harvard University Police Department (HUPD), and the Office for Community Conduct (OCC), to address allegations and maintain the privacy and security of sensitive information.
- Foster an inclusive and approachable environment for individuals from all backgrounds.
Education and Training:
- Develop and deliver engaging training sessions on Title IX, VAWA, and NDAB policies for students, staff, faculty, postdocs, and other HMS community members.
- Create educational materials and collaborate with student organizations to disseminate important information during orientations and events.
Data and Reporting:
- Oversee data collection and reporting related to compliance with Title IX and NDAB policies.
- Provide regular reports and administrative support for initiatives, ensuring that HMS leadership and the OGE are informed of any issues.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience, including at least three years specifically in a Title IX role.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
- Graduate Degree, preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience supporting student populations and working in higher education.
- Ability to train and present on policies, laws, and develop educational content on community climate and University values.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and navigate sensitive situations with neutrality and empathy.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and identities.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including effective presentation delivery.
- Willingness to travel on and off campus for meetings and events.
