Position: Clinical Assistant Professor in Elementary Mathematics Education

Position Description:

The College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at the University of Louisville (UofL) seeks a Clinical Assistant Professor and collaborative colleague with a background in mathematics education (PreK-5) to join the Department of Elementary, Middle, and Secondary Teacher Education. We are especially interested in an individual who demonstrates expertise in elementary educational settings with linguistically, culturally, racially, ethnically, and economically diverse students and teachers. Successful applicants for this position will teach and advise in undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation programs.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising, contributing to reciprocal partnerships with schools, participating in ongoing program development, and providing service to the department, college, university, professional and state associations, and community partners.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or terminal degree (PhD, EdD), with a focus on mathematics education (PreK-5) or a closely related field (outstanding ABD candidates with a short timeline for completion will be considered)

  • Record of commitment to diverse student populations

  • Evidence of commitment to the principles of culturally sustaining pedagogies to enhance equity and inclusion

  • Informed understandings of the field including evidence-based practices and methodologies

  • At least 3 years professional work experience related to preK-5 mathematics instruction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful teaching experience in teacher preparation programs, undergraduate and graduate

  • Evidence of involvement in professional organizations, such as AMTE and NCTM

  • Experience or interest in designing and teaching online courses

  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders

Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications

Appointment: 10-month contract

Beginning Date: January 2025 (preferred) but August 2025 possible
