Summary

The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine seeks exceptional candidates at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor to serve as Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy and as Chief of Vascular Surgery at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, the cornerstone adult hospital affiliate of Baylor College of Medicine.

Ideal candidates will provide strategic and operational direction that will lead to the growth of the educational, research, and clinical missions of the Division of Vascular Surgery, and bolster the Division within the Department of Surgery and Baylor College of Medicine. The new Chief will spearhead the Department of Surgery's 5 mission areas: Clinical, Research, Education, Professional Development, and Community Outreach, and work in alignment with the Department Chair.

The Division has a robust clinical program that includes nine full-time faculty surgeons working across the Texas Medical Center and at Baylor-affiliated institutions including Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, part of Common Spirit Health and The Texas Heart Institute, the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Ben Taub Hospital, and Texas Children's Hospital.

Successful candidates should exhibit a commitment to clinical excellence, research, innovation, teaching, and collaborative practices. The candidate must have an established record of robust clinical experience and outcomes in both open and endovascular surgery and should be committed to teaching Vascular Surgery Residents and advanced Fellows. The candidate must be certified by the Vascular Surgery Board of the American Board of Surgery and qualify for medical licensure in the state of Texas.

Candidates must have completed an advanced fellowship in Vascular surgery and show a history of leadership and administration experience relating to clinical practice, educational programs, and successful research activities. All candidates must have the ability to work collegially and cooperatively within a diverse environment. Rank and tenure status are dependent upon qualifications.
