Summary of PositionKeene State College invites applications for an Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of highly motivated and skilled faculty members to help provide exemplary teaching, mentoring, and service consistent with the philosophy and mission of Keene State College and the Computer Science Department. We aim to produce computer science graduates who will be successful professionals in the workplace and graduate school and become leaders in their chosen vocations. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in CS areas, including (but not limited to) Algorithms, Computer Architecture, Programming Languages, Cybersecurity, Operating Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, and Data Sciences.
The teaching load is twelve credits per academic semester, typically three 4-credit courses per semester. Among the responsibilities of the successful candidate are the following: (1) optimize learning for students having a range of abilities through efforts within and outside of the classroom; (2) through mentoring, help CS majors develop into exemplary professionals; (3) develop a scholarly agenda which may include but is not confined to the following: conducts research in areas of interest, including interdisciplinary research that can be applied to the CS program; publishes in peer-reviewed arenas; participates in academic conferences; mentors CS majors involved in undergraduate research; and (4) serve the department and the college on committees or through other activities that benefit the college community. As part of their regular teaching responsibilities at this public liberal arts college, faculty members may teach courses in the major and the Integrative Studies Program (General Education). Acceptable Minimum Qualifications
PhD in Computer Science (preferably), Computer Engineering, or Electronic Engineering.Preference will be given to candidates with adequate undergraduate teaching experience in areas covering Algorithms, Computer Architecture, Programming Languages, Operating Systems, and Artificial Intelligence.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of related subfields such as Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, and Data Science.Additionally, the College has identified desirable qualifications that support our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse campus community including the ability to speak a second language or to bring a multicultural perspective to the campus.
Salary Information
Salary is based on the prevailing Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement; current rank minimum for for an Assistant Professor is $75,230. Subject to change with anticipated Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement. Salary is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package.
