This Finance Manager role is a great opportunity for a candidate to develop a broad range of financial management skills that cross multiple areas at Pfizer. This role oversees the finance operations of the entire Business Innovation (BI) organization, including the complex P&L associated with the Ignite division (formerly known as Partner of Choice) and the complexities that arise from this service revenue business.
This role will support the Ignite business in all P&L accounting, including managing the complex revenue accounting. This position will manage all Ignite clinical trials budgeting and forecasting, partnering across PRD and ORD organizations to oversee the financial aspects of these trials that Ignite performs on their customers’ behalf. In addition, this role will partner with all BI leaders to oversee their teams’ expense budget. Finally, the successful candidate will also lead the effort to improve the efficiency of the Ignite revenue recognition and invoicing processes, leveraging the platform support of the Pfizer enterprise.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the Budgeting and forecasting process for all expenses related to the Business Innovation organization
- Report consolidated BI reports to Leadership
- Lead finance and accounting operations for the Ignite business
- Manage all details of Ignite’s complex, customer-level revenue accounting, deferred revenue recognition, invoicing and payment tracking
- Streamline finance processes to support Ignite business related to the customer invoicing process and recognizing revenue
- Coordinate with Controllers to determine appropriate accounting treatment for Ignite financials
- Create and maintain necessary GL accounts, MPG and Cost Center structure for proper accounting and reporting
- Work cross functionally with R&D finance and other R&D functions to support the Ignite clinical trials budgets and forecasts
- Lead month-end financial close and reporting responsibilities for Business Innovation
- Track and report P&L for each of the Ignite contract
- Manage balance sheet accounts related to Ignite financials and perform periodic reviews (Accounts Receivables, Allowance for Doubtful Accounts, etc.)
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field required
- 5 years of finance work experience or 3 years with MBA
- Knowledge of SAP, Global Mosaic/SmartView and fluency in Microsoft Office tools
- Experience should include budgeting, forecasting, planning and analysis for a global organization
- Knowledge of accounting and prior experience in monthly financial close activities
- Ability to communicate financial concepts to business leaders and successful experience operating in highly matrixed organizations
- Ability to work independently, under pressure and amid ambiguity
- Self-starter who brings energy, enthusiasm and a positive attitude to responsibilities and projects
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced degree, MBA
- Familiarity with Pfizer finance policies and internal processes, and Pfizer finance coding structures (legal entities, major product groups, GL accounts, cost centers, etc.)
- Previous experience with Non-Product Invoicing, customer set-up in SAP and financial flows process
- Previous experience partnering with R&D cross functional teams to budget and forecast clinical trial expenses
- Previous experience managing operational budgets including compensation
