College/Department Information
The Division of Information Technology aims to deliver innovative, reliable, and secure services to support students, educators, clinicians, researchers, and administrators. As Augusta University's central IT provider, we manage essential IT resources such as the wired and wireless network, email, telephony, online collaboration tools, information security, software licensing, websites, and various other systems and applications.
Job Summary
Under general supervision, the AV Technologist II will set up and operate a variety of instructional technologies, video conferencing, and AV equipment, collaborating with faculty, staff, and students with an emphasis on excellent customer service. They will provide clear, concise, and diplomatic communications to resolve issues, and will work as an integral part of the instructional support team to provide support for collaborative learning and presentations. The AV Technologist II will also provide tier II support by interacting with the Lead AV Technologist and the AV Engineering & Systems team. The AV Technologist II will work in a team-based environment and require excellent communication skills among the team and customers. They will also mentor and train students. AV support workers. They will be required to enter & resolve incidents/tasks into Service Now's service management system. Weekend and evening support of events may be required as needed.
Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
PROVIDE ASSISTANCE AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO PRESENTERS: Sets up tests, and facilitates use of the audio/visual systems, VTC systems, lecture capture systems, audio conferencing systems, WebEx's, computers, software. and related technology to support classroom teaching, meetings. and special events. Provides assistance and technical support to presenters to ensure successful presentations and use of audio/visual systems.
CONDUCTS PERIODIC INSPECTIONS OF AUDIOVISUAL EQUIPMENT: Conducts periodic inspections of audio/visual equipment and classroom technologies to proactively identify potential issues and minimize risks to the clients effect use of the room AV systems.
COORDINATES WITH OTHER IT TEAMS: Coordinates with other IT Teams to resolve escalated technical and functional issues.
MONITORS AND SUPPORTS LIVE DELIVERY OF INSTRUCTION: Monitors and support live delivery of instruction and special events utilizing audio conferencing and video conferencing learning technologies.
PARTICIPATES IN THE RECOMMENDATION AND DEVELOPMENT: Participates in the recommendation and development of reliable, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.
DIAGNOSES AND RESOLVES TIER: Diagnoses and resolves tier 1-2 level hardware and software issues.
MAINTAINS INVENTORY OF AUDIO/VISUAL SYSTEMS: Maintains inventory of audio/visual systems and checkout equipment.
TRAINING: Trains and mentors new AV student workers and new FT AV staff, including supporting classes and events outside of normal business hours.
OTHER DUTIES: Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of related experience OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of related experience OR High School diploma, GED, or equivalent from a State or Federal accrediting organization and six (6) years of related experience.
Valid driver's license required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in IT, Computer Repair, Electronics, Audio-Visual, Engineering or related area; InfoComm-Recognized AV Technologist Certificate.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Experience in Windows and Macintosh hardware/software support.
Knowledge of using hand tools in the AV trade is a plus.
Knowledge of network connectivity.
SKILLS
Mentor and coach Student AV Assistants as required.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization, and customer service skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve AV system issues.
Ability to work before or after hours/weekends as required.
Must be able to climb ladders and lift in excess of 50 lbs.
Must maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Must be able to stand, kneel, and crouch for long periods of time.
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in high-pressure environments.
Must pay close attention to detail and possess excellent organizational skills.
Ability to read and understand technical documentation and conduct research.
Must maintain the following attributes while under pressure from deadlines: technical capability, professionalism, self-motivation, self-discipline, and focus.

Pay Band: B7
Salary: $20.29/hourly - $20.36/hourly
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
