Job Description
General Information:JMU's Facilities Management currently has an open position for an Information Technology Specialist. This position will translate user system needs into technical solutions by developing and maintaining applications, software and computerized systems while verifying the integrity of data used in support of FM operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:
•Ensuring the departmental application & databases are functioning properly
•Developing & assisting with BIRT reports and SQL scripts
• Translating user systems needs into technical solutions by developing & maintaining applications, software and/or databases
•Supporting of FM transportation department with maintaining Fuel Master, fueling pumps and assist in monthly billing
•Providing of input and support for engineering projects that require hardware/software analysis
•Developing and maintaining of FM website
•Developing and maintaining ad hoc reporting through Eclipse BIRT or SQL programming language
•Modifying of scripts and reports to incorporate any table or coding changes
•Reviewing of software company release notes for technical information and developing of strategies necessary for successful implementation
•Providing data integration support as it pertains to campus integrations and upgrades of systems
•Installing, upgrading and maintaining of departmental databases
•Upgrading and maintaining of FM directory
•Assisting of department IT inventory
•Submitting of recommendations for procedure changes, new programs and/or equipment
•Providing of ongoing IT assistance and information to FM staff and agency customers
• Serving as initial IT support for hardware and software systems related to other FM projects such as lighting controls, HVAC equipment and irrigation controllers
•Supporting and programing of Chimes hardware and software as requested
Qualifications:
•Ability to diagnose routine computer operations problems
•Ability to provide training, consulting and user support services for network users in standard PC applications
•Ability to work independently and in a team environment
•Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing
•Experienced in database maintenance, hardware/software troubleshooting
•Ability to train and explain standard PC applications which may include Linux and Windows
Additional Considerations:
•Experience with Microsoft Active Directory
•Experience with one or more of the following software:
Apache Tomcat, Java/J2EE, HTML, SQL, XML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, jQuery, Bootstrap, JSON and/or GIT
