The Office of Financial Aid at CU Boulder welcomes applications for the Associate Director of Financial Aid Advising! The Office of Financial Aid is part of the Enrollment Management unit, where we support recruitment and student success efforts of the campus through the administration of financial aid programs. This full-time position reports to the Director of Financial aid and is responsible for the management of the Financial Aid Advising area. Responsibilities involve formulating policies, advancing project management, promoting employee growth, overseeing customer relationships, and managing additional tasks as required. The core responsibilities of the office are to process aid and serve students and the Associate Director plays an important role in ensuring that those areas are supported with adequate resources and training. This key leadership position supports the director on media and legal issues and is part of the leadership team for the Office of Financial Aid. This position maintains a thorough and current working knowledge of all Title IV federal, State of Colorado, and institutional rules, regulations and procedures to ensure accurate release of information and program compliance.

We coordinate over $425M in grants, scholarships, work-study and loans for over 20,000 students each year. Our staff consists of 38 full-time professional employees and 50-60 student employees.

Advising Leadership & Management
Set customer service expectations and ensure that service level goals are monitored and achieved.
Collaborate with other functional areas within the Office of Financial Aid to ensure excellent customer service and minimal hand-offs from one area to another.
Collaborate with communications area to ensure customer feedback is provided about messaging in emails, websites, and other forms of communication.
Collaborate with other campus departments to ensure a positive student experience.
Use evaluation tools and metrics to assess identify gaps in service or areas where service can be proactive.
Identify needs, make recommendations, and implement new processes or procedures. Responsible for establishing strategic goals that align with the office and campus initiatives.
Assign work or projects to team members.
Support the administration of athletic aid and ensures compliance with Big 12 and NCAA rules and regulations.
Support the administration of student employment and work study programs.
Responsible for hiring, evaluating, training, and coaching direct reports.
Set expectations for employee development.
Responsible for elevated customer concerns.
Ensure student employees are adequately trained and set expectations for work assignments, quality assurance, and career development activities.

Provides leadership as part of the OFA management team.
Responsible for identification, analysis and implementation of financial aid, enrollment management and office policy.
Interpret regulations and ensure compliance with current rules, regulations, laws, etc, associated with the management of the federal, state and institutional aid programs.
Analyze, design and implement new federal, state and institutional financial aid initiatives, mandatory and voluntary at the discretion of the Director.
Lead office-wide projects by utilizing project management techniques.
Assist the Director with legal and media inquiries as needed.
Represent the Office of Financial Aid on campus initiatives.
Outreach/Partnership Cultivation
Identify key partners and provide outreach and training opportunities as well as provide a communication channel for important updates.
Maintain a strong partnership with Law School, Continuing Education, Athletics and other campus partners to ensure outstanding service is provided.
Serve as a liaison and primary student employment contact to the university community and employers external to the campus. Develop relationships and training with other areas of Financial Aid, Career Services, Human Resources, Employee Services and University Information Systems.
Serves as a liaison to the university community in particular to Bursar, Admissions, Academic Advisors and the Registrar. Ensures collaborative relationships that meet student needs.
Set expectations for providing outreach presentations to campus constituents, high schools and other community organizations.
Professional Development
Participates in training seminars, conferences, committee meetings, etc. for professional development in the areas of Title IV financial aid.
Attend staff meetings, retreats and other meetings as assigned.
Collaborate with supervisor to determine areas for professional growth and identify and request appropriate training opportunities.
Assist in the development and implementation of advising related trainings for all staff as needed.
This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid and directly supervises 3 FTE, with an overall unit of 12 FTE and 20-25 student employees.
