The Communication Department seeks to hire a per-course faculty member to teach Comm 325, Media, Technologies and Culture, in the Spring of 2025.
This course will be taught on the Moraga campus, in person, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:50 - 11:30am during the 2025 Spring term.
Course Description
This course, an introduction to media studies, focuses on the critical concepts and technical skills necessary for understanding communication practices in the 21st century. While acknowledging that the media have become digital, this course places communication and media technologies within a broader historical and cultural context. Students will be required to produce media criticism and creative media projects, as well as learn key theories about media and communication in the global, networked digital age.
Qualifications:
MA in Communication Studies or related field, PhD preferred. Must be able to teach basic media production to satisfy the core designation.
Candidates must reside in California.
The salary is $9,929 - $13,744 depending on qualifications. The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
