Job Description Summary:
The Senior Institute Administrator at the GW Climate and Health Institute will provide policy guidance, research and write issue briefs, and develop and implement communications and policy strategies related to climate change and human health. More specifically, the Senior Institute Administrator will:

Identify opportunities for engaging in relevant policy processes at local, national, and international levels. This may include organizations, regulations, programs, and agreements focusing on climate change, environment, food and nutrition, sustainable development, health, and other areas, considering the many avenues through which climate change affects human health and through which greenhouse gas mitigation and adaptation actions are pursued.
Develop, implement, and manage strategies for CHI engagement in identified relevant policy processes, in partnership with the CHI Director and Program Manager.
Research, write, and publish white papers, articles, case studies, websites, and/or other communications tools to report and translate CHI research findings for policy-relevant audiences.
Provide analysis and recommendations related to local, federal, and international regulatory and legislative initiatives to advance actions that protect public health under climate change, through mitigation, adaptation, or both.
Participate in research projects with the Institute and other faculty.
Supervise projects in coordination with partners carrying out policy-relevant research and/or conducting translational activities to communicate research findings to broader audiences.
Identify opportunities, draft, and coordinate public testimony and op-eds to advance policies that protect public health under climate change.
Collaborate to submit grant proposals that support these initiatives
Establish strategic partnerships and coalitions to advance these initiatives.
Assist the CHI Director in monitoring grant finances, carrying out grant activities, and reporting grant progress.
Work closely with the CHI Director and other staff to increase the visibility, prominence, and effectiveness of the Institute.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline plus 7 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
Law degree is preferred
Excellent research, writing, and management skills.
Experience in public health and advocacy is highly desired.
Experience with legislative and rule-making processes at the local and federal levels is preferred.
