Job SummaryDepartment-Specific Responsibilities
Designs, develops, programs, implements, and maintains all aspects of internal OAH databases (including member management systems, publication and conference submission systems, and financial reporting and tracking systems), and database interfacing with third-party CMSs
Troubleshoots issues and develops fixes to database and IT systems as needed
Ensures IT security and compliance with IU information technology and data policies
Creates and maintains development, maintenance, and security documentation for all OAH IT systems
Undertakes research and self-study to remain current on database and other IT systems best practices
Serves as OAH IT lead and IT point of contact for IU
Develops and maintains annual OAH IT department budget with responsibility for tracking expenses
Has supervisory responsibilities for OAH Website Developer
General Responsibilities
Provides experienced design, development, and implementation of databases with an emphasis on performance, security, and stability; determines technical feasibility and design solutions related to hardware and software requirements; conducts related planning, programming, data modeling, data flow diagramming, structural design, and testing
Delivers and reports on data through the development of stored procedures, triggers, functions, and views; creates database queries, indexes, and writes data load scripts; designs, tunes, and indexes data tables
Troubleshoots issues and develops normalized database solutions; reviews monitoring tools and query execution plans to maintain or increase query efficiency; performs root cause analysis on query performance issues
Creates and maintains documentation for all database development projects and/or activities
Researches and stays current with database development trends and best practices; recommends database standards, policies, and procedures

EDUCATION
Required
Bachelor's degree (preferably in computer science, information systems, or related field)

2 years of database planning, design, development or related experience

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
