Group Leader in Molecular Sciences Center for Therapeutic Discovery
The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute seeks a scientist with experience in biochemistry, structural biology and assay development to lead the molecular sciences group at the newly established center for therapeutic discovery. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced PhD-level scientist with an interest in developing novel therapeutics as part of an interdisciplinary team and collaborating on a wide range of projects with the Dana-Farber community.

In this role, you will establish a highly functional group that supports drug discovery projects with assay development, structural enablement and general biochemistry needs. Your group will work closely with chemistry, biology and pharmacology groups to best support the development of novel therapeutics. The role further entails responsibility for projects and deliverables, management of resources and communication with multiple stakeholders. You will interface with the Center leadership and with faculty and staff at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. To be successful, we expect you to have strong technical, communication, leadership and organizational skills.

- Lead molecular sciences, structural biology and assay development at the Center for Therapeutic Discovery at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
- Responsible for managing the molecular sciences team.
- Responsible for managing external resources.
- Play a key role in shaping the scientific strategy of the center, working closely with the directors and other members of the leadership team.
- Drive a culture of urgency and scientific excellence with a focus on therapeutic impact.

- Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology, or related fields and ideally 5+ years of pharma/biotech experience.
- Exceptional scientific background with a track record of delivery â able to provide sophisticated solutions to complex problems.
- Expert in developing assays for screening and profiling.
- Practical knowledge of structural biology and protein expression techniques in drug discovery or prior leadership responsibility.
- Experience of structure-based drug design is a plus.
- Strong management skills â effectively manages the performance of the team, and their development, to maximize team impact.
- Drives change, challenges dogma, thrives in ambiguous situations.
- Collaborative mindset â capable of working with all stakeholders and project teams to ensure portfolio progresses.
- Excellent presentation skills.
