Position Overview:The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is seeking an Accounting Associate for the Colwell Center Operations Department, located in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Operations in the department and working closely with the Director of the Administration, Facilities Manager and other Administrative staff, providing Payroll and Financial support.

Telework:
A hybrid telework schedule may be available after completion of a probationary period.
Responsibilities:
This position will serve as the first point of contact for Payroll and other Human Resource duties. As part of the Colwell Center Operations this position will provide other Accounting functions related to payroll, procurement, reconciliation, etc.
Specific duties include:
Primarily responsible for all Department Payroll. Ensure payroll and any applicable changes are processed in accordance with UMBC guidelines. Reviewing of all time and leave for corrections and payroll actions.
Serve as a Liaison between the Hiring department and Campus HR in the search process from start to finish. Assisting department heads with searches using Page Up, determining if actions are needed through compensation and classification to fill positions.
Responsible for all aspects of new hire onboarding.
Train alternate Payroll Preparers as needed
Reconcile monthly operating and other fund departmental accounts
Develop and maintain departmental ad hoc reports
Coordinate and track Quarterly IMET EHS Lab Safety Training
Required Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Four years accounting clerical experience. Customer service experience and/or cash handling and payment processing experience.
Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
University Payroll experience.
Strong understanding of payroll processes.
Skill in reviewing and utilizing PeopleSoft and Page Up
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
Ability to exercise attention to detail
Ability to provide high level of customer service
