Job Description
Our Mathematics and Computer Science division (MCS) at Argonne National Laboratory is seeking two candidates to join as Postbaccalaureate Appointees to join a project related to quantum computing.
Our mission is to accelerate quantum computing and bridge the gap between current noisy quantum devices and advanced quantum algorithms. Our quantum computing group is seeking a Postbaccalaureate Appointee to contribute to research and development on the quantum computing software stack.
Under guidance of researchers and the managers, you will collaborate with others to develop and enhance open-source software tools, primarily in Python, with a focus on optimizing large-scale quantum circuits. The appointees will also be expected to participate in publishing research findings and presenting contributions at conferences.
Position Requirements
Recently completed Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field
- Programming skills in Python is preferred, however, C++, Julia, Rust, or similar language are also acceptable
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to model Argonne's core values of impact, respect, safety, integrity, and teamwork
- Ability to work onsite in Lemont, Illinois 3+ days per week
- Experience in high-performance computing (HPC) or scientific computing is preferred
