The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University, we provide dental education to the next generation of professionals by offering hands-on education through innovative research, patient care, and service. Join other dental providers to improve the oral health of Georgia and beyond. The DCG was founded to provide the people of Georgia with quality dental care by educating students in dentistry. As a patient, you have the option to receive treatment in one of our three different practice models consisting of student clinics, resident care, or in the faculty practice. All dental treatments can be completed by the specialists in our facility. We also serve patients in more than 20 clinics across Georgia.
Job Summary
The Sterile Supplies Specialist is responsible for the sterilization and processing of supplies and instruments for distribution. Responsible for inspecting, sorting, disassembly/reassembly, manual and mechanical cleaning, biological processes, equipment operation, packaging, sterilizing, storing and distribution of sterile supplies. Work is performed under direct supervision and is reviewed by observation of results obtained. Also required to work ADEX (CRDTS) exams and mock boards, as well as other special board certifications exercises throughout the year as needed requiring weekend work up to approximately 4-6 times per year.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
MAINTAIN DAILY INVENTORY CONTROL OF ALL INSTRUMENTS: Maintain daily inventory control of all instruments. Generate inventory sheets for dental faculty, residents, and students. Identify the need for repair, and provide preventive maintenance for instruments, and handpieces. Assist with the periodic inventory of supplies and instruments.
DISPENSE AND COLLECT ALL INSTRUMENTS: Dispense and collect all instruments to and from dispensaries/clinics. Ensure proper instruments are supplied with each cassette. Identify the need for repair, and provide preventive maintenance for instruments, and handpieces. Distribute appropriate instruments to dental dispensaries accurately and efficiently. Dispense and sterilize instruments for board candidates.
ENSURE THAT THE HIGHEST QUALITY OF INFETION CONTROL IS MAIN: Ensure that the highest quality of infection control is maintained. Operating sterilizers and conducting procedures for testing. (Bowie Dick, Biological monitoring)
OPERATE COMPUTER SYSTEM FOR INVENTORY CONTROL: Operate computer systems/scanners for inventory control. Create labels, maintain forms, and create barcode labels
MAINTAIN ALL ROOMS ASSOCIATED WITH CENTRAL STERILIZATION: Maintain all rooms associated with Central Sterilization. Conduct scheduled cleaning of walls, floors, counters, and equipment. Conduct daily cleaning of the assigned work area.
GUIDELINES/PROTOCOLS: Other job-related duties assigned by the Central Sterilization and Instrument Control Manager or Director of Clinical Operations. Follow all published guidelines regarding personal protective gear and clinical infection control protocol established by Federal, State, Augusta University, or Dental College of Georgia policies. This includes but is not limited to proper disposal of syringes, needles, and scalpel blades, proper handling of contaminated items, and proper disposal of hazardous materials. Follow the organization's incident reporting protocol in case of a medical emergency. Be prepared to perform certain procedures until professional help is available
OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accredited organization with knowledge of sterilization processes.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from a Dental Assistant Program and/or graduation from a Sterile Process Technician Program.
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with two years sterilization experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of dental instruments, equipment, and sterilization process.

Prioritize tasks, complete work, and meet deadlines.
Experience with Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Excellent verbal/written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to effectively interact with dental assistants, students, faculty, and staff
Ability to learn sterilization principles, procedures, equipment, and patient management software.
Good manual dexterity, ability to distinguish colors, ability to lift, and push and pull up to 50 pounds.

Pay Grade: B2
Salary: Minimum $15.77/hour
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
