Position Summary
The College of Southern Nevada invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Environmental Science, beginning in August 2025. Candidates must hold an M.S. in Environmental Science, Physical Geography, Geology, or a closely related field.
The College's standard teaching load includes five courses per semester, along with departmental responsibilities, student advising, and college service. Candidates are expected to teach both lower and upper division courses and labs in earth science, geology, environmental science, geology senior capstone, principles of stratigraphy and sedimentation, field geology, and other specialized courses in bachelor’s degree programs.
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, dynamic instruction at the undergraduate level, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Ideal candidates will possess:
Experience teaching at the college or university level.
A willingness and aptitude for teaching and engaging students in active learning.
Experience teaching laboratory and/or field-based courses.
A desire to collaborate with undergraduate students on research projects.
The ability to initiate and supervise interdisciplinary, applied projects and research in their area of professional expertise.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Physical Geography, Geology, or a closely related field.
Two years of teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral Degree in Environmental Science, Physical Geography, Geology, or a closely related field.
Experience in teaching Natural Resource Science courses at the third and fourth-year levels.
Teaching experience at a college or university.
Experience with curriculum development.
Experience mentoring students in senior-level research courses.
Experience teaching and/or working with diverse student and staff populations.
Demonstrated knowledge of the course and classroom management.
Demonstrated professional development/activities within your field outside of the classroom.

Starting Salary Range
Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience. For example, for an instructor with a Master’s degree, the salary range would be $58,046 to $74,304 annually. The entire salary range is up to $89,166 annually with a Doctorate and 10 years’ experience. A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for initial salary placement purposes.
