Job Description
Duties: The Department of Computer Science is seeking applicants for a full-time (9-month renewable) non-tenure track position in the Computer Information Systems Networking and Cybersecurity degree options. The primary focus of this position is teaching and preparing students for professional careers. Research is not required. Applicants are sought in all areas related to IT infrastructure and secure computing. The successful candidate will be committed to acquiring or maintaining professional and instructor certifications.
The start date of this position is Fall 2025.
Required: A master’s degree in a computing discipline such as Computer Information Systems or Computer Information Technology or a related field from an accredited institution is required at the start of employment.
Preferred: A PhD in a computing discipline such as Computer Information Systems, Computer Information Technology or a related field from an accredited institution; college-level teaching or other professional training experience; or teaching experience on equipment within the Cisco Networking Academy. Industry certifications are also preferred.
The University of Akron’s Department of Computer Science offers programs in Computer Science and Computer Information Systems. Undergraduate majors offered include Computer Science and Computer Information Systems with specialties in cybersecurity, networking, and software development. At the graduate level, we provide a comprehensive Master of Science degree, specifically in Computer Science. Currently, the Department has 11 full-time faculty members, 8 tenure track and 3 non-tenure track. We presently have more than 750 undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in computing.
